“So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them (Genesis 1:27).”
We were created to be unique
“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be (Psalm 139:14-16).”
In Christ, we are made new
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here (2 Corinthians 5:17)!”
We were born to stand out
“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven (Matthew 5:13-16).”
Lord, I confess there are times I accept the ways of the world for comfort or convenience. This hinders your light from shining in dark places and blurs the distinction between myself and the rest of the world. Help me to walk in wisdom so that my actions and words are always seasoned with salt and full of grace (Colossians 4:5-6). In Jesus name, Amen!
